The mainstream media has been bashing President-elect Donald Trump for various perceived conflicts of interest, from the New York Times to the Washington Post, and even across the pond. There’s been so much interest in how Mr. Trump could ethically balance ownership of a multinational business with his new job as leader of the free world. Today, however, Mr. Trump began to put those concerns to rest, tweeting that he will be leaving his “great business in order to fully focus on running the country in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
Not long after, the United States Office of Government Ethics tweeted profuse praise of the President-elects apparent decision, offering such statements as “Bravo!” and acknowledging that this is “very good for the American people!”
The OGE claims to not be partisan, but it sure looks like they are warming up to the president-elect. What do you think? Is it about time Donald Trump got the official praise he deserves? Is the conflict of interest issue settled? We can’t wait to hear what they say when he actually follows through! Comment below!
